We’re trying to beat the budget this winter so we can keep doing what we do. Please do read, support and share if you can.
As an animal charity in Essex completely reliant on the generosity of our supporters, visitors and the public, winter is always a tougher time at the sanctuary due to the larger running costs. Not only do we need more electricity to run the heaters, but our straw and hay bill soars too. We’re already eternally grateful to those of you who have joined our £2 per month Save a Life Campaign (more on that here), and now we’ve also launched our brand new Keep a Pig Warm for a Week scheme! We have over 20 piggies here at the sanctuary including Jammy Dodger who was saved after falling off a meat train on his way to slaughter, Hope who is a rescued pig who was used for endless breeding and kept in a tiny farrowing crate, and Dexter who was bought as a pet micropig but kept on growing and growing. Each of them uses £20 worth of straw per week during the winter months so we’ve popped this as an option on our Hopefield online gift shop.
Thank you in advance from Peaches (pictured), Agnes, Blossom, Cookie, Oreo, Harry Trotter and all our other rescued pigs.
