Sponsor an Animal for Dad This Father’s Day at Hopefield Animal Sanctuary

It’s Father’s Day on 18^th June and instead of the usual mug and socks combo as a present for Dad or Grandad, how about sponsoring an animal on his behalf instead? We have lots of birds, mammals and reptiles to choose from, but we’ve picked six to get you started with. We KNOW that Dad will love any of these cheeky characters, and don’t forget we’ll be open on Father’s Day so you can come down and learn more about all of our rescued residents!

Jack the Cow

Jack the Cow has become a bit of a father figure to our new calves, Arlo and Oakley, so he makes the perfect sponsorship present for Dad. Jack arrived from a city farm in 2021 and is a friendly, curious chap who loves a head scratch from visitors.

Jammy Dodger the Pig

As sweet as the biscuit he’s named after, when Jammy arrived last summer at the sanctuary at just 1.5 weeks old it was touch and go as to whether he would made it. You would never know looking at him now how malnourished and lethargic he was: these days he is busy rolling in puddles, playing his version of football and greeting everyone who comes over to see him.

Jimbo the Marmoset

Fun fact: Jimbo loves throwing people evil looks! Really he’s just keeping a protective watch of his true love, three-legged Oleg. Having originally been kept in a small rat cage and fed chips and gravy, it took Jimbo a while to learn to be a marmoset, and we know Dad would love to sponsor this character for Father’s Day. Do note that as Jimbo is one our rescued exotic pets, he will only be on public display six times per year, as per our latest update.

Chewie the Alpaca

If Dad is a Star Wars fan then it HAS to be our very own, happy chappie Chewie. He arrived with three other alpacas in not the best of conditions, but has since thrived with his friends in the Hopefield paddocks. He’s never more content than when he gets his favourite treat of grated carrot and sugar beet!

Dustin & Dougal the Sheep

Arriving as tiny lambs in March 2018 as rescues from the meat trade, Dustin, Dougal and Dylan came into the sanctuary very poorly. Sadly, little Dylan didn’t make it, but the other two not only pulled through after round the clock care, but became two of our most loving sheep. So much so that Dustin has become an amazing foster dad to several other lambs we have at the sanctuary including Simon (also on our sponsor list), Pebbles and Buttons.

Percy the Red Iguana

Percy moved into the sanctuary after his elderly owner passed away, and the family were going to have him put to sleep if a new home could not be found. He’s loving life lazing around with his Iguana friend, Penelope, and is a firm favourite with visitors and staff alike.

Sponsorships for an animal here at Hopefield are £30 per year and 100% of this goes towards keeping the animals fed, sheltered and showered with love!
