Meet Our New Arrival – Ping

Ping is a Coati (Coatimundi), which is a type of mammal, and a distant cousin of the raccoon.

Ping is a Coati (Coatimundi), which is a type of mammal, and a distant cousin of the raccoon. They are found in South America and make squeaky, clicks noises to chat to each other.

Ping is at Hopefield due to a change in his owner’s circumstances, influenced by the second lockdown. Coati’s are on the invasive species list so can’t be rehired to members of the public, bred, or sold. Hopefield is one of the only places that can take these animals.

He has a big personality, is very nosey, and LOVES food! You can often find him using his long snout and claws to get the sweet potato and apple, hidden by Lianne, out of a Kong treat ball!

Thank you to the kind person who purchased this from our Amazon Wishlist. Ping is very intelligent, therefore Lianne will be working on new enrichment to keep his mind and body healthy.
