Yesterday, our beautiful donkey Johnny was rushed to the vets after suddenly developing a serious problem with his eyes. It was an incredibly worrying time for everyone at the sanctuary, as there was a possibility we could be facing a life-threatening condition. As you can imagine, our team was heartbroken and desperately hoping for good news for our gentle, much-loved boy.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to every single person who has sent kind messages, shared words of encouragement, and kept Johnny in your thoughts. Your support has meant more than you know and has been a real comfort during such an anxious time.

We’re pleased to let you know that Johnny is now back home at the sanctuary, where he’s being showered with love, care and plenty of fuss from the team.

We’re now awaiting the results of the tests carried out by our vets, which we hope will give us a clearer picture of what we’re dealing with and what the next steps will be. The waiting is never easy, but we’re staying positive and doing everything we can to keep Johnny comfortable while we wait for answers.

Johnny is such a kind, gentle soul and means so much to everyone here. We know he’ll be feeling the love that’s being sent his way from so many wonderful supporters.
