Fantastic news! We are absolutely delighted to share that we have officially been granted our primate licence for our rescued marmosets by Brentwood Borough Council.
This has been the result of many months of hard work, planning, investment, and dedication from our team, all with one goal in mind: ensuring the very highest standards of welfare for the animals in our care. With the introduction of the new licensing requirements for primates in the UK, there has been a much-needed shift towards recognising that animals such as marmosets have highly complex physical, social and behavioural needs. They are intelligent, sensitive animals that require specialist care, appropriate housing, enrichment, and experienced caregivers to thrive.
We’re incredibly proud that our facilities and management have met the standards required, and we hope this marks a positive step forward for primates in captivity across the UK. These new regulations will help ensure that primates are kept in environments that properly meet their welfare needs, while also helping to tackle some of the issues associated with the exotic pet trade.
Most importantly, this is wonderful news for our rescued marmosets, who can continue to enjoy the safe, enriching, and specialist care they deserve for the rest of their lives.
