New update on Oreo the spaniel – please keep her in your thoughts

We wanted to share a new update on our very special girl, Oreo. T

Oreo arrived with us back in July in an extremely poor state, having been close to death from starvation. Since then, she has been on an incredibly tough journey, showing strength and resilience every step of the way. In October, Oreo went in for what was expected to be a routine spay. Sadly, during the procedure, vets discovered multiple tumours in her mammary glands. After taking time to recover, she bravely returned to surgery in November to have the affected glands and tumours fully removed and appeared to be making a good recovery.

Unfortunately, Dave and Lianne recently noticed a few new lumps, so Oreo was taken back to the vets for a thorough check-up. At this stage, we are hopeful these may be swelling or scar tissue linked to her previous surgery. Oreo has now started a course of medication to see if this helps, but if there’s no improvement, further surgery may be needed, and then these new lumps will be sent away for testing so we can better understand what’s going on.

Through it all, Oreo continues to amaze us. She is still very much her bonkers, happy self — full of character, mischief and love. If you didn’t know her story, you honestly wouldn’t think anything was wrong, which brings us a great deal of comfort.
