RIP beautiful Splodge

The sanctuary is just not going to feel the same without this larger than life character.

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of our much-loved resident, Splodge.

Over the past month, our team began to notice subtle but worrying changes in Splodge’s behaviour. His leg had become significantly swollen and, although he remained his usual affectionate and playful self, it was clear that something was seriously wrong. He was taken to the vet immediately, where scans revealed a tumour located high in his leg.

We were optimistic about his chances. The veterinary plan was to operate — either to remove the tumour or, if necessary, to amputate the affected leg — with the hope of giving Splodge many more comfortable and happy years here at the sanctuary, surrounded by the people and feline companions who loved him deeply. However, during the procedure, we received the devastating news that the tumour had already spread to his spine. With no further treatment options available, we made the heartbreaking but compassionate decision to let him pass peacefully.

Splodge

Splodge was a gentle, sweet-natured cat who loved nothing more than head scratches and resting in warm patches of sunlight. His absence will be felt profoundly by everyone who cared for him.

Run free, Splodge. You will always be in our hearts. 🌈💙
