As the cold, relentless weather settles in, the 600+ rescued animals who rely on us every single day are facing the hardest season of the year. Horses, cows, pigs, rabbits, birds, and even exotic species depend on us for warm bedding, safe shelter, and the nutritious food that keeps them healthy through winter. But rising costs, fewer visitors, and ongoing challenges like “flockdown” preparations mean our resources are stretched thinner than ever.
Last winter, we spent over £10,000 on hay and straw and £20,000 on extra feed. This year, that total is climbing toward £35,000 — a necessary cost to keep every animal warm, dry, and fed.
Hopefield has always been a haven for animals who had nowhere else to turn — the abandoned, the mistreated, the overlooked, but right now, we’re the ones in need of a lifeline.
If you’re deciding where to donate to an animal charity this Christmas, even a small contribution will have an instant, life-saving impact.
