We were incredibly shocked and saddened by the recent Seaspiracy documentary that has aired on Netflix. This is a must watch for anyone who cares about marine life, the ocean, human rights and our planet as a whole.
Since watching this, we have been researching eco-friendly and sustainable gifts that we can stock in our gift shop, along with looking to install more recycling bins at the sanctuary for our staff, volunteers and visitors to use, with the aim of reducing the amount of plastic waste that we dispose of.
The number one thing that we – as humans – can do is to eliminate or drastically reduce our seafood consumption. According to the documentary, 93% of the world’s CO2 is stored in the ocean, so protecting it and it’s creatures is in everyone’s best interest.
