It’s with heavy hearts that we share the sad news that our beloved tanuki, Rocket, has passed away at the incredible age of 11. Rocket arrived at Hopefield back in July 2015, when he was just a year old. His previous owners were facing difficult family issues and could no longer keep him. With nowhere else to turn, they were going to have him put to sleep if a new home couldn’t be found. Thankfully, we were able to step in and give him the second chance he so deserved. Rocket quickly became a much-loved member of our sanctuary family and a popular face in our animal sponsorship scheme. With his cheeky personality and unique charm, he captured the hearts of staff, volunteers, and visitors alike.
As much as we wish they could, sadly, no animal can defy old age. Rocket lived a long and happy life, and while we take comfort in knowing he passed peacefully, his loss has left a huge hole in our hearts. Our team are devastated, and he will be sorely missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. Sleep tight, Rocket.
