RIP Ping the Coatimundi

We will miss this sweet boy so very much.

We’re absolutely heartbroken to share that we had to say our final goodbye to Ping the Coatimundi last week. Ping arrived at Hopefield in 2020 after his previous owner sadly had a change in circumstances, and he soon settled into his forever home here with us. With his huge personality, cheeky nature, and endless love of food, Ping kept us all entertained. He could usually be found using his long snout to rummage around his purpose-built enclosure, always on the hunt for tasty treats. In recent months, Ping had been undergoing investigations for some health problems. Sadly, recent tests revealed a large tumour on his bladder, and nothing more could be done for him.
Ping was adored by everyone at the sanctuary, but especially by Dave and Lianne, who live on-site and were often greeted by his little face at their window as their home overlooked his enclosure. He will be deeply missed by all of us.
