Exotic animal rescue Essex: RIP Yoshi the Tanuki

Our sweet gentleman of our tanuki family has crossed the rainbow bridge.
We’re heartbroken to share that we had to say goodbye to Yoshi the tanuki who will be sorely missed by us all – especially our exotic animal rescue team who worked so closely with him.

Yoshi arrived at Hopefield 10 years ago (age 3), becoming one of the very first tanuki we ever rehomed. In the wild, tanuki typically live for just 6–7 years, so for him to reach 13 is a testament to the care and love he received during his time here. Exotic animal rescue is something we really wish wasn’t a necessity, but we always love and care for our more unusual residents with everything we have. It’s so hard to lose them, but we know that Yoshi had, for the most part, a long and happy life. Rest easy, Old Man.
