Blu arrived with us in 2023 after being found tied to a park bench – she was malnourished and utterly petrified of life. Just a couple of months later, we got a call from a dog pound about Rufus – an 8-month-old giant puppy, found on the streets, who hadn’t been claimed by his owners and was scheduled to be put to sleep. Whilst we’re not traditionally a dog rescue and dogs aren’t usually part of our rescue work (as we aren’t a rehoming centre), we simply couldn’t turn our backs on them. With space available, we built them a large indoor and outdoor enclosure where they live each day knowing only safety, security, and above all – love.
These to two have so much love to give and they’re thriving here at the sanctuary, enjoying the life they very nearly never had. We’re so grateful we were able to give Blu and Rufus their happy ending – but heartbreakingly, so many others aren’t as lucky. We are at capacity here at Hopefield for dogs and one of the hardest parts of what we do is not having the resources and funds available to save them ALL.
