Just two weeks ago, we begged people not to dump animals at our gates after two rabbits were cruelly left in a box. Today, we’re appalled to be sharing another case of complete disregard for animal welfare. During our Bank Holiday Family Festival two young cats were dumped in our car park, shoved into tiny guinea pig carriers and hidden behind a visitor’s car – where they could have been run over.
They were petrified, starving, and riddled with fleas. Our team, and the kind person who found them, were – understandably – absolutely heartbroken. No living being deserves this.
To those responsible: This is NOT rescue. This is abandonment. To the general public: Please, if you’re struggling, reach out to responsible rescues. Dumping animals is dangerous and traumatic for them.
These babies are now safe with us and getting the care they need. They will be looking for a home together as we don’t have the space or facilities for more cats, and they’re so loving that they don’t need to take up already-limited rescue space. We aren’t taking applications just yet as they need to be vetted and nursed back to full health first, but please keep your eyes peeled for updates with more information.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support us through these difficult days. We couldn’t do it without you! If you would like to make a donation towards their unexpected treatment and food, please visit www.hopefield.org.uk/donate
