Diane The Amazon Parrot

Our beautiful Yellow-Crowned Amazon Parrot, Diane, arrived at the sanctuary from another rescue who had several parrots in their care requiring aviary homes. After falling out with a potential home, Diane ended up back in their care, and they contacted us for help. We introduced her to some of our other resident parrots, and she was much happier. She now resides with Joy the African Grey, Tiki the Goffin’s Cockatoo and Adelaide the Galah Cockatoo. Unfortunately, a lot of parrots that are kept as pets are not fed the correct diet. We’ve had birds come to the sanctuary who were fed custard creams, or were on a basic seed diet, but this is not beneficial for them, and can cause liver and heart problems, ultimately shortening their lifespan.

MEET MORE RESIDENTS

When Ned arrived our staff were shocked by his state. After they learnt about Bella, they all put money together to save her too and then a few months later Peggy was born.
Came to Hopefield as her previous owner was rushed into hospital, and could no longer look after her.
