When Ned arrived our staff were shocked by his state. After they learnt about Bella, they all put money together to save her too and then a few months later Peggy was born.
They both arrived, along with Jude, after being rescued by another sanctuary. They had been rescued on a short-term basis, otherwise they would have been sent to slaughter, but they didn’t have the land to keep them on permanently, so got in touch with us. We were, of course, more than happy to welcome them into the Hopefield family. Devon can be very mischievous, and is often lead astray by the boss of the cow field, Jude! Sadly, male calves are usually sent to slaughter or shot as they’re surplus to the requirements of the farmers.
