The support that we’ve seen from everyone throughout 2020 has been phenomenal. We would life to specially thank:
Daily Bread Cafe (St Peter’s Church in Hutton) for donating their surplus food to us every single day, and our team of volunteers who Kindly set aside time every day to collect the food from the church and bring it to the sanctuary.
During the first lockdown in March 2020, grants became available to apply for to raise emergency funding for charities. Luckily, we successfully obtained grants from Brentwood Borough Council, Peace for Animals, Humane Society International, and The Animal Rescue Foundation, which were a huge help in getting us through.
In October 2020, we put a call out for help with our flooded and muddy car parks. We asked for donations of wood clippings that we could lay, which would enable us to stay open to visitors – without a usable car park, we would have been forced to close. We would like to thank Wychwood Tree Surgeons, Keith Archer’s Tree Care Specialist, Turner’s Tree Surgery, Cedar Tree Care, and Crosscut Tree Work for all their help with this project.
In November, we launched our Winter Hay & Straw Campaign, to help us raise money to cover our winter costs. Our approximate expenditure of hay and straw each winter is around £7,500, and we’ve raised a whopping £7,690 – smashing our target!
We have also partnered up with Votch for a limited time, and these amazing, vegan-friendly businesses will be donating a percentage of their profits to the sanctuary. It’s great to work with other organisations, and spread the important message of animal welfare, and living a cruelty-free lifestyle.
