RIP Pear the Partridge

We had to say a very sad goodbye to our feathered friend Pear the Partridge last week.
RIP Pear. Pear, who was a sanctuary favourite amongst staff thanks to her endearing and loving nature, was found wandering in a park some years ago by a passerby. Because of how domesticated she was they got in touch with us and we gladly gave her a home in our mixed aviary. Unfortunately the vet diagnosed organ failure when we noticed she was under the weather recently and so we had to say a sad and unexpected goodbye to her. We’ll miss you, Pear!

Hopefield was delighted to welcome baby Maya Grace for her very first visit to the sanctuary. As she grows up surrounded by rescued animals, we hope she’ll develop a lifelong love of wildlife, compassion and respect for every living creature—values we’re passionate about inspiring in every child who visits us.
