We’re trying to beat the budget this winter so we can keep doing what we do. Please do read, support and share if you can.
After becoming very poorly recently our oldest equine resident, Minnie the 46-year-old Welsh Pony, had to receive emergency treatment at House and Jackson Vets. Sadly she did not respond to the treatment and we had to make the decision to let her go. She beat many, many challenges in life, but she simply could not beat old age.
“Minnie arrived all the way back in 2004 with four other horses, all saved from the meat trade by a kind lady who took them in herself. The lady sadly lost her land so all of them came to spend their lives at Hopefield. Although Minnie came with the others she quickly became friends with Tiggy, and they were inseparable until Tiggy passed away. Minnie always tolerated her field mates but never really formed the same kind of bond again.
She certainly had her share of health issues over the year, including losing an eye! She never let anything stop her though and kept staff and volunteers on their toes right up until the end. When it came time to let her go our CEO, Dave, and General Manager, Lianne, were both with her giving her lots of cuddles in the sunshine as she passed away peacefully. She will never be forgotten and will always be missed. RIP Minnie.
