One of the hardest parts of animal rescue is having to say goodbye, and last week we had to say goodbye to Peaches the pig.
Today we welcomed 7 more animals into our Hopefield family.
These 5 hens were bought to lay eggs for their owners, and now unable to lay due to old age, they were advised to have them euthanised.
We were then joined by two ponies, who were going to be put to sleep later on the same day we were contacted about them, if a new home couldn’t be found. Their owner had a change of circumstances and could no longer care for them.
Sadly, in the last two weeks alone, we’ve been asked to re-home over 100 animals – the majority of which we just do not have the space for. It’s an incredibly sad world we’re living in, where we’re seeing increasing cases of animals being discarded simply because they’re no use to their owners, or are just unwanted. We would urge people to seriously consider whether they can provide for these animals for the rest of their lives – they’re a lifelong commitment.
