One of the hardest parts of animal rescue is having to say goodbye, and last week we had to say goodbye to Peaches the pig.
We sadly had to say goodbye to Lightning this afternoon, as he went to sleep for the final time.
He arrived at the sanctuary back in 2008, as an ex-racehorse who suffered with curvature of the spine, and was prone to lameness.
Lightning formed a very special bond with our Deputy Manager, Lacey (pictured), and she gave him the nickname of ‘Mr Krabs’ as he’d often be found side-stepping out in the big field!
He’s now reunited with his best friend Freddie, who we lost almost 2 years ago, but will be sorely missed by all at the sanctuary.
